As we prayed concerning the coming New Year, 2005, the Spirit of the Lord began to show us we will have 40 weeks of Instruction and Wisdom. It is a new time. A new season. Instruction will be given to teach us new ways to accomplish God’s purposes and plans. As we seek Him, wisdom will be imparted to enable us to carry out the instructions we have received. “Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that hearest me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.” Prov. 8:33-34 We will be directed to places we have never been, to do things we have never done, with people we have never known, and with results we could never have imagined. Instructions and wisdom will become constant companions to chart our course. Following the word of the Lord and the leading of the Holy Spirit we will move from where we find ourselves now into happenings of the Lord in 2005. The first Stepping Stone in the course of the New Year is to Examine Ourselves in order to determine if we are making ourselves available to the Lord and His plan. We avail ourselves to Him by being aware He is with us at all times and can speak to us in any way He chooses. During the last three weeks as we have been studying these things, someone came to me and asked if I would pray and consider working with them on a certain area of the ministry they were involved with. As I considered the request, I felt my answer had to be no because of lack of time. See, it was “ time” which had become my god. I was not available to God for His plan; things we have never done. But as I confess that fault to you I will also tell you I repented, sought the Lord and I am following His plan for this new season.
| | The next Stepping Stone will be to Trust God, not just to depend on His Word, but to depend on His character. There are many scriptures which tell us the result of Trusting God. Some of those changes are: our hearts are opened, our eyes are opened, our ears are opened, gates are opened, God’s provision and power is opened to us, our understanding is opened, and His joy is opened to us. And these are just a few of the things which are opened. Our trust may have gradually begun to be placed in things other than God, such as people, money, material possessions and even our own strength ( or should I say weakness) and abilities. If we find our trust in any other place than in the Lord, let us repent and cry out for mercy. The Holy Spirit of God will lead us back to Truth. Truth will come upon us and overshadow us like a cloud in the heat of the day. At this point we have arrived at the third step, Anointed with Fresh Oil. Ps 92:10 “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.” As you look at the meaning of this verse it does not speak of one person anointing another. It is the act of God putting the fresh oil of the Spirit in our lives and He Himself will set us apart for Himself with a fresh new look at life. We will be filled with new desire, dedication, and devotion to Him. Let Him anoint you with fresh oil. Ask Him to anoint you with fresh oil. This is His purpose for you and me. He will reveal Himself to us and make our path plain. Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because He hath ANOINTED me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. He will give us His word which will become the lamp unto our feet and the light unto our path. This is 2005, the beginning of never been, never accomplished, never known, and never imagined.
