Excerpts from the                January-February 2006

 Promised Land Ministries Newsletter

Grandmama’s Corner
 “He Will Come”
Shortly after Thanksgiving we began to make plans to go pick the boys up and bring them home with us for Christmas. When their parents told them we were coming to get them Devin, who is three, began to ask every day, “ When are they coming?” His Mom would tell Him again when we would be there. After about a week of questions he began to tell her each day, “ Papa and Grandmama will come to pick me up and take me to their home.” He was satisfied because he had been convinced we would come. Doesn’t that sound just like us waiting for the Lord to come for us? Because we have learned he is Faithful we can tell others with assurance that He will come,. He will watch over His word and perform it. He is Faithful. John 14::2-3 “In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”

God in Plain Sight
Ex. 13:21 “ By day the Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to guide them on their way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so they could travel by day or night.”

The Board of Directors at Promised Land have always taken a few days in October to fast and pray in order to seek the Lord concerning direction for the upcoming year. Last October there was not an opportunity for the Board to have the usual time away. I was concerned that we were going to miss the Lord and His direction for the coming year 2006. Instead of speaking to the Board of Directors He began to reveal Himself during the Fall Retreat. This was the beginning of knowing the Lord had moved from the way we had seen Him in the past. It was so evident to all that He was giving a visual picture of the coming days. No longer was He speaking to a few in seclusion but He was from that time forth going to be “God In Plain Sight”.
As preparations were being made for the October Fall Retreat, Consuming Fire, I received a call from someone who is a part of Promised Land. They told me the Lord had impressed upon them to prepare a container for a fire to burn continually night and day for the three days of the upcoming retreat. The Lord had instructed them how to tend the fire and watch over it. I immediately had a witness of the Holy Spirit and felt the Lord was going to reveal Himself to us through the burning fire. Plans moved forward and the decision was made to prepare two fires which would be set up in two different locations on the Promised Land grounds. One was near the cross and the other one was located near the Tabernacle in clear view from the Murphy House Dorm, where the meetings would be held. It would be possible to be in view of one of the fires no mater where you were located. There were two people who had clear instructions from the Lord and were in charge of maintaining the fires around the clock, just as the priests in the Old Testament were instructed to tend to the fire on the alter and not let it go out.
Any time you walked outside you were able to see a Pillar of Fire by night and a Pillar of Smoke by day. This was a clear picture of God in our midst. No longer was He hidden from view. All could see Him. All could have access to Him.
From that weekend forth I have continued to see in my spirit’s eye the fire and the smoke and I know there is a move of God. In Exodus we read of the Tribes of Israel and are told how they would camp around the Tabernacle. They could see the Pillar of Fire by night and the Pillar of a Cloud by day which told them God was in the camp and they were to rest. They remained in camp until the Pillar moved and then they packed up and followed. The Way is no longer hidden from view. “ God Is In Plain Sight.”
During those three days the presence of the Lord was awesome. As each meeting was completed I would walk out on the grounds and see those fires continually burning. The Pillar of Fire by night and the Pillar of Smoke by day. I never once saw the two

priests , whom the Spirit of the Lord had called to tend the fires, laboring or working at the job God had given them to do. But I knew they were being faithful because you could see the evidence of their faithfulness. The fires steady and sure. The fires Of God are continually fueled by the “Living Sacrifices” which are laid upon the alter of service. His Fire or Presence will come and consume those lives for all to see. Obedience is consumed by the fire of His presence and is placed in Plain Sight for all to see. Those who do not know Him or have lost their way can come and be welcomed, redeemed and restored.
When Christ was crucified the veil of the temple was torn from the top to the bottom. No longer is the presence of the Lord limited to a few who were allowed to go into the Holies of Holies. But the “Lord God In Plain Sight” calls to all. He is making Himself known in places that have not known Him. Just as those prepared fires for the retreat grounds so will the Spirit of the Lord speak to you to follow Him. As you follow Him in obedience lives will be changed forever. God will use your obedience to speak to those who are seeking Him. They will hear His voice in what you do. Those who watch this work will see Him as the Pillar of Fire and the Pillar of Smoke and they will know there is a Way they can follow. They will see the movement and decide to go with God and the people of God. They will pack their tents, break camp and simply follow this “God in Plain Sight.”
When days of trouble come many will fear because they have not known God and do not know how to find Him. They will not know where to go for help. But because the Lord God is calling those to tend His Fire by giving their life as a living sacrifice He will consume our obedience as a sweet savor. Then those who have great trouble will see His Pillar of Fire by night and a Pillar of Smoke by day and will follow Him. He will become their “God In Plain Sight.”

Tierra Prometida

Christmas twice a Year!
We want to tell you we give thanks to the Lord for your expression of love and gifts for the children in Mexico. By mid-December, because of your generosity and love for the children at Tierra Prometida, we had shipped many boxes of gifts and supplies to the border. Pastor Zuniga and Aurora were notified and made plans to come to pick them up before Christmas. But because of an accident with the van, thank God no one was hurt, and process of taking care of things pertaining to that accident, Pastor was unable to pick the things up before Christmas. We spoke with them on the phone and they said all the children had gifts which people there in Linares and the surrounding area had brought for them and they had a wonderful time. As soon as they are able they will come and pick up the Christmas at the Border which awaits them. They will get to celebrate Christmas twice this year.
The van Tierra Prometida has is a seven-passenger van which they have taken the seats out of and all the children stand up as they go to school. We had begun praying for a larger vehicle. Cleo and Jean are now on staff full time at Melody Lane Ministries in McAllen. Melody Lane is an outreach ministry and provides lodging( and food clothing, etc) for missionaries from all over the United States going into Mexico on mission trips. They had received word a few weeks ago that there were two vans being donated for ministries in Mexico. The need of Tierra Prometida was considered and we were notified that one of the vehicles would be given to Tierra Prometida. (Please pray for all those who labor in the ministry at Melody Lane. They touch the lives of thousands every year. Who knows-- the van may arrive in time to be filled with all the gifts for Christmas and everything picked up and delivered to Tierra Prometida at once. God’s ways are past finding out. He WILL supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus. There have been several ministry teams which have gone to the orphanage this past Fall. One youth ministry raised money to purchase a new commercial dryer.
God has blessed Tierra Prometida with five new children. These are five more who will be raised up to know the great Love of God which has given them Hope and when they are grown will go out and bring Hope to the Nation of Mexico. I will list the names and ages of the ones who need a sponsor at this time; Frances Adia 6 yrs., Brian Esparza 6 yrs. , Jose Timedo 10 yrs., Carlos Carrion 7 yrs. Sponsorship is $28.00 a month. Pray and see if the Lord would lead you to become a sponsor.

  • Azuza Street
    Centennial Celebration
April 27-29, 2006 will be a special time and we invite you to mark your calendar, make arrangements to come to Promised Land to join us as we observe the 100th Anniversary of Azuza Street Revival. This was a time when people came to pray and cry out to God for His Holy Spirit to fill hearts and change lives. God heard them and visited them in a miraculous way. Many were saved, healed and filled with the Holy Spirit which brought forth testimonies that drew others to seek the Lord. God’s power began to move in the community, in the city, across the nation and then around the world.
The observance of this event will begin Thursday Morning Praise and Worship 9:30a.m. There will be continual prayer asking the Lord to visit us and fill us with His Holy Spirit. During the three days there will be times set aside for personal prayer and counseling and ministry. Our goal is to seek the Lord in Prayer, Worship and the Word. There will be a service in the morning and a service in the evening (we will follow the leading of the Lord during these services.) The remainder of the time will be for seeking the Lord in prayer, ministry and fellowship among the Body of Christ. There will be times for communion, water baptisms, as the Lord leads.
