 Promised Land Ministries Newsletter

Grandmama’s Corner
    “There comes my Brothers”

We have had our Hyder Family Reunion at Promised Land for the last eleven years. And it is so much fun getting everything ready for that three day weekend. For the past several years Johnathon, Dominic, Bailey and Devin have helped us prepare. This past June they were here for three weeks and there was plenty to keep us busy. As they were given instructions they would work until that job was finished and then they were ready for the next job. What a heritage God has given. Since they were here last year Promised Land had been given a golf cart. What a great blessing, time and energy saver it has been. So we were using the golf cart to help save time as we moved from place to place. The older boys learned quickly how to drive it but Devin, who is two years old, wanted no part of it and would not ride on it. So he and I would walk from place to place. Devin was quite happy with this arrangement. But as soon as he looked up and saw the other boys on the golf cart coming across the yard he would start running as fast as he could in the opposite direction looking for a safe place, saying, “ oh, there comes my brothers.” I would get so tickled I couldn’t console him. But I would pick him up and assure him everything was fine and it would be fun to ride on the cart like they did. But the first two days he couldn’t be convinced. As he watched them gradually he began to change his mind. I would hold him on my lap and we just sat on the cart and not move it. Then we would move it just a little way and stop. Before long he would stand there waiting to have his turn. In the beginning when Devin would run because his “brothers were coming” it made me think of the times others have run because, we, their ‘brothers and sisters” in Christ were coming and they were not sure how we would treat them. Have you ever thought: Oh, no, there comes my brothers!
Prayer: Lord, help us to be kind and merciful to all of our “brothers and sisters” in the Lord. Teach us how to be patient with them and encourage them that the Christian life is not difficult but fun and something to be desired.

A Word For You

You have cried to the Lord and he has heard your voice and He has answered.
You are going to live and not die. You have come through a battle but there are some things which still remain. Strengthen those things which are ready to die. You are like plants in a garden which have wilted because of lack of water. Get yourself in the Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you absorb it as you Read it, Listen to it and you will began to be strengthened. And behold, God will make all things new.

*******
You have called to the Lord time and time again for children. This is the season.
Ps. 113:9 He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.
As you read this scripture you began to sing and praise the lord even as you go about tending to your home and your praise will come up before the Lord and you will receive that which you ask.

  *******
You have heard other believers talk about the Lord revealing Himself to them and you want that close relationship with Him.
Ps. 138:8 The Lord will perfect that which concerns me: thy mercy, O Lord, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.

 Viva Mexico

 . . . July 9-17

Cleo & Jean, Bob & Betty, Kathy Jo & Rosemary and myself found ourselves in Linares at Tierra Prometida in mid July. We were greeted by Aurora and all the children and it was a family reunion. There was excitement and much news to share. Cleo and Jean left us and would return on Saturday to take us back to the border. The la palapa outside had a new metal roof and walls which a mission team had built. When we went inside they could not wait to show us the new living room furniture and stereo system which a local furniture store had donated. As we were shown these things we were filled with Thanksgiving because we knew our prayers were being answered. We continually pray for the Mexicans to rise up and began to support the work going on at Tierra Prometida. We had carried a trailer which was loaded with cases of new clothing, furniture and food. Many of you had a part in this trip. When we unloaded the clothing it was sorted into sizes and laid out on tables and the children were allowed to “shop” for their size and color. It was tooooooo much fun. Bob and Betty Todd went with us to minister in the evenings in the area churches and Betty, Kathy Jo and Rosemary conducted Bible School for the children at Tierra Prometida during the day. A uniform company had sent several cases of new soccer uniforms in every color imaginable. It was decided the children could wear these uniforms to Bible School. So, like the clothing, the uniforms were sized and laid out in the living room and the children were brought in. Words do not do justice to describe the joy, excitement and laughter that came over these children as they picked out their uniforms and caps. They would find a color they wanted and jerk them on over their regular clothes and put the caps on their heads and just be overcome with laughter. One of the boys would get so excited he would just pat his chest and cry. Only God can bring such joy and happiness. They could not wait until morning so they could wear their uniforms to Bible School. The last day of Bible School was Friday and I was upstairs working and I heard Kathy Jo and Rosemary come running up from the class room saying, come down here the children are getting born again. We went down to the class room and there were children with their hands up and as Betty would call on them they would say they wanted to ask Jesus into their heart. We would bring one child up at a time and allow him/her to ask Jesus to come into their hearts and then we would pray with them. What a day to behold. There were ten children who were born again that day. These are the children the Lord is going to use to send out all over Mexico to bring HOPE to the NATION. Each day there were games, bubbles and times of sharing about the Lord. There were times of teaching them how to care for the place God has given them. Rosemary and Kathy Jo deposited great love in these children. Bob and Betty saw miracles, signs and wonders in the evening meetings. Cleo came back to pick us up on Sat. The following Monday the hurricane came up into the Gulf of Mexico and came inland and Linares took a big hit. Everyone at Tierra Prometida was safe but were with out electric and water for three days. The wind uprooted all of pine trees and the house took on some water but we are checking these things. Trees can be replanted and houses can be repaired. During this hurricane season please pray for their safety when you hear of any hurricane going up into the Gulf of Mexico. The house parents are in place again and this will give Aurora some time off to be with her family. Our next trip, the Lord willing, will be between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Katrina Outreach

We continue to pray for those who
were in hurricane Katrina and lost
family, friends, homes and all
possessions. We had the opportunity
to help fill a trailer with supplies that
were delivered to Louisiana last week.
Now we have an opportunity to reach
out to the evacuees in our area. The old
Keystone Hotel in Kermit has been
renamed, Eagle’s Nest, and is being
renovated to house these families.
They need workers and supplies at this
time. As soon as the work is completed
they will need household goods. Zion
Fellowship in Odessa is heading up
this outreach.
